So this is a story all about how my life got flip turned upside down... yep it's story time, settle in because it's well worth a read! A few months ago, I was suffering with some painfully dry skin around my eyes. It was red, flaky and it kept swelling up. Honestly, at times I looked like I'd been punched in the face just without the bruising - my eyes had reduced to slits. At first, I thought it was my diet. Then I assumed it was an allergic reaction to my new moisturiser (my skin is quite sensitive). I kept going through periods of flare ups and couldn't figure out what was wrong. I saw my GP who diagnosed it was an allergic reaction to eye make-up so I bought new mascara that seemed to have solved it.

Then a month later, I was catching up with the oh so wise Sarah Akwisombe, who told me she'd been through the exact same thing before and guess what... it was all down to stress! As soon as I heard her say it, it was like fireworks went off in my head. I couldn't believe this hadn't occurred to me before. I had been incredibly busy in my day job, plus the side hustle had been kicking off too. Now that I've googled it extensively, I can say that stress-induced eye eczema is actually a thing. Stress can manifest itself in so many different ways. We have to recognise how insanely important self-care is. There's no point being an all round kick-ass girlboss when you're falling/flaking apart! Always remember you gotta look after number one.
